The
Honorable Janie A. Warren, Citrus County Tax Collector,
has been honored with bronze, silver, and gold awards from
Junior Achievement.
These
awards are based on a volunteers level of participation
and leadership in Junior Achievement. Most recently, she
was awarded the Visionary Award for her leadership,
vision, and dedication to local, state, and international
JA programs.
Mrs.
Warren’s involvement with Junior Achievement extends over
20 years. As a founding Board member, she worked with
other community leaders to bring JA to Citrus County
schools. She subsequently assisted in establishing JA in
Hernando County schools.
Janice’s daughter, Amanda Warren Richards, had the
opportunity to experience JA programs in the Citrus County
schools. Janice and Amanda were among a select few chosen
as United States JA Ambassadors to visit the former Soviet
Union in 1991 to assist in the implementation of the JA
economic programs in their schools.
Since
2003, Janice and her staff at the Citrus County Tax
Collector’s office have raised over $60,000
through participation in the annual JA bowl-a-thon and the
annual JA breakfast for the direct benefit of Citrus
County students.
Junior
Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated
to educating young people about business, economics and
free enterprise. Through a dedicated volunteer network,
JA provides in-school and after-school programs for
students in grades K-12. Today more than 142 offices reach
approximately 4 million students in the United States.
